North High Special Services Department was awarded $405 for the BrainPop online curriculum. BrainPop is a proven program that provides comprehensive lessons and activities in the areas of science, math, English and language arts, arts and technology, social studies, health and more. This program will provide more engaging material for students who have substantial difficulties with long-term remote instruction.
Downers Grove South High School Special Services was awarded $605 for the Osmo Learning Center which allows students to develop their literacy and match skills with interactive manipulatives and iPads. The activities support student development of essential math and literacy skills along with providing students with creative outlets through directed drawing and developing problem solving skills.
District 99 Student Assistance Program was awarded a $2,000 grant from the District 99 Education Foundation for a refreshed branding campaign, which includes student focus groups, design and marketing materials for their drug and alcohol education and prevention program. Throughout the year, the team regularly communicates prevention and educational messages with hard copy posters in the buildings, emails to students and families, and posts on social media. Since its inception in 2013, mostteens@dgn, mostteens@dgs, and mostteens@d99 have used the same brand and materials.
